Representatives of the two warring communities of Aladja and Ogbe Ijoh have signed a peace and security agreement to maintain peace and secure the lives and property of both communities.

The meeting which took place on Saturday, 17th September, 2022 at Government House Annex, Warri was anchored by the Special Adviser to the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution, Chief Edwin Uzor.

This meeting was sequel to the recent disputes over boundary demarcation between the Aladja in Udu and Ogbe Ijoh in Warri South West which led to the alleged death of one Mr Frank Amakri in the early hours of Friday, 16th September 2022.

The communities had been embroiled in long drawn land tussles which initiated the move by both local government council chairmen, Hon. Jite Brown of Udu Local government and Hon. Taiye Tuoyo of Warri South West to demarcate the disputed area.

During the peace meeting both parties were given an opportunity to express their grievances and it was resolved that the demarcation of the disputed boundary would be suspended and a delegation from the governor will be sent to visit the disputed area before further discussion.

Also the leaders of both communities were made to sign a peace treaty to ensure that henceforth both communities desist from threatening each other and party breaching the peace agreement would be sanctioned in accordance with the law.

It was resolved that arms and ammunition harboured by both communities should be voluntarily submitted to security agencies.

The meeting was attended by stakeholders including the Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, who was represented by his vice, Mrs Elohor Awanohron, and the chairman of Warri South West, Hon. Taiye Tuoyo.
