DELSUTH Optometry Department Receives Accreditation

The optometry department in the Delta state teaching hospital Oghara the head quarters of Ethiope West local government area, recently received accreditation.

The Chief medical director of the Delta state teaching hospital, Professor Onome Ogueh received the accreditation team from the optometry and dispensing optician medical institute of Nigeria (ODOMSN) in his office at the hospital in Oghara for the accreditation of the optometry department in DELSUTH.

The CMD while playing host to the team, pleaded with the team to take proper look at the hospital’s facility to point out any area where they felt the department was lacking for recommendations to be made for more improvement.

Professor Ogueh assured the accreditation team of the readiness of the hospital management to do more and to improved if there were areas they were still lacking.

While responding after inspecting the facility, the Registrar of optometry and dispensing optician and medical institute of Nigeria, Mrs Ebele Uzodike applauded the DELSUTH management for keeping the facility clean and in good shape unlike most hospitals she has visited.

Mrs Ozodike while recommending during the accreditation excise that the management should provide more space for the optometry department to enable the equipment last longer as ventilation and space was very important for the facility to work optimally, commended the hospital management for ensuring and providing such modern equipment to the department.

The Chairman of medical advisory committee, Dr Nekwe Okolugbo appreciated the team for coming to the hospital, promising to adhere strictly to the different recommendations made concerning the hospital’s facilities for more improvement.

The Chairman said the management would continue to support the department and also improved on the services the department was rendering to patients.
