The Permanent Secretary (PS), Secretary of the State Government (SSG), Comrade Samuel Diatake has enjoined staff of the Delta State Liaison Office, Lagos to be responsible and principled in the discharge of their official duties.
He admonished the staff to marry their interest in a manner that will not put the government at a disadvantage.
Comrade Diatake gave this charge on Friday, 13th May, 2022 in Lagos while anchoring staff verification exercise having done the same in Abuja and Warri Liaison Offices. The verification panel also consisted of Mr Anthony Abuah, Director Admin and Mr Godspower Ulakpa, Chief Accountant, all from the SSG office, Asaba.
According to the Permanent Secretary (PS), the verification exercise became expedient when it was discovered that there were persons who had traveled and stayed abroad yet still in the payroll of the government.
He observed that some persons posted for special reasons to Lagos had not been committed to their official duties, and that offenders desist henceforth.
The PS said that the government had done its best to support staff posted outside the state with some incentives, adding that the least they could do in return was to be committed to their work.
He explained that the exercise was not to witch-hunt anyone, saying: “It should not be only when there is a standing ovation that people should come to the office” and emphasized the use of a time book.
The Liaison Officer and Director of the office, Mrs Maureen Osodi appreciated the PS and his team for taking the pain to travel to Lagos for the verification exercise.
She stated that their coming had saved staff the stress of having to go to Asaba, and assured that staff would reciprocate the kind gesture of the government by being committed to work and enforcing discipline.
The verification exercise which was mandatory for all staff under the payroll of the Delta State Government, SSG office, saw a great turn out of workers.
