Some commuters and tricycle operators plying the ever busy Airport Road in Effurun Uvwie Local Government Area, have bemoan the non-repair of the traffic light on the road by Link Road junction, News Desk Paper Report.
Those who expressed their dissatisfaction over the non-repair of the traffic light. Mr. Jonathan Okpokri noted that the traffic light has been bad for the past two months without any concern from the relevant authorities.
He explained that the essence of a traffic light was to control traffic and to enhance crossing of a busy road like Airport road but when the traffic light is not functioning, the purpose is defeated.
Mr. Okpokri appealed to the relevant authorities to repair the traffic light to enhance free flow of traffic by linking road junctions and safe crossing of the road, especially by school children.
One Obodo, a tricycle operator who spoke in the same vein, stated that when a traffic light is not functioning, it could lead to serious accidents as most of the road users were always in haste to cross the traffic light.
He disclosed that several accidents had occurred due to the traffic light that was not functioning. He called on the relevant authorities to do the needful by repairing the traffic light.
