Delta Restates Commitment To Deliver Quality Health Facilities

Delta State Government has reassured Deltans that it remains poised towards the provision of quality service delivery in all the health facilities.

The Honourable Commissioner for Health Dr. Ononye Mordi made the assurance today during the commissioning of medical Equipments, Toyota Hilux Vans, motorcycles and Solar Direct Drive walk in the cold room.

The items which was procured by the State Government and Saving One Million Lives Programme for Results (SOML PforR) is for use in updating and improving the performance of primary, secondary and tertiary health facilities in the state.

The Hon. Commissioner revealed that the state Government procured 2 nos Toyota Hilux Vans, 25 motorcycles for the Local Government Diseases Surveillance Notification Officers to enable prompt and efficient surveillance system for early detection of diseases.

“The COVID-19 Pandemic revealed the importance of surveillance and with the current outbreaks of diseases our public health emergency response system needs to be at the top hence the purchase of the vehicles to aid mobility,” Dr Ononye said.

Dr. Ononye said the Saving One Million Lives Programme for Results pillars is in line with the State Government Health for All Deltans Agenda. 

He appreciated the Saving One Million Lives Programme for Results for the donation of Solar Direct Drive walk in Cold Room, 100 vaccine Boxes, 13 Solar Direct Drive Blood Banks, Sphygmomanometer, Stethoscope, weighing Scales, infrared thermometer, pulse, Oximeter and Glucometer

“Immunization is a key health intervention strategy and Vaccine Potency is a huge factor in Newborn and Child health. The procurement and installation of Solar Walk in Cold Room which has the capacity to store 40,000 litres of vaccines for over 100 hours will ensure the potency of vaccines at our state Cold store”

“These 13 Solar Direct Drive Blood Banks are to improve the availability and quality of blood and blood products in our secondary health facilities where there are high maternal deaths due to obstetric hemorrhage,” the commissioner said.

Dr. Ononye Mordi commended the Governor of Delta State and Vice Presidential candidate of the People Democratic party Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for his continued commitment to the health and wellbeing of Deltans.

Receiving the Solar Direct Drive Blood Banks, the Board Chairman Delta State University Teaching Hospital Dr. Isaac Akpoveta expressed appreciation for the equipment and pledged that the equipment would be put to good use.
