The Human Rights Pathfinders Association, HURPA has called on the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba CFR to institute a Panel of enquiry and invite Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluoma for questioning and possibly charge him for human right abuse and breach of peace in Lagos state during the just concluded 2023 general election.
The call became necessary after we have carefully observed the manner and process the election was conducted in Lagos state.
From our findings voters were not allowed to express their choices through the ballot. They were subsequently beaten as a result of the order of MC Oluoma to his gang of thugs against any voters perceived not to vote for the All Progressive Congress APC.
Mc Oluoma was recorded on video clip calling on the people of Lagos not to come out and vote if they will not vote for the All Progressive Congress APC in the state.
The electoral acts forbid such threat and the right to vote is guaranteed on the electoral act provided they have their permanent voters card PVC and are duly accredited before casting their ballot.
We urge the police not to look other way but ensure due process is followed as this will serve as a warning to any citizens who tries or is planning to follow MC Oluoma legacy of breach of peace in the state.
We call on the international communities to issue Visa ban to MC Oluoma as soon as the case is concluded by the Nigeria Police Force.
We also use this opportunity to seek for expansion of this investigation to INEC Nigeria officials guilty of misconduct during the just concluded election.
