The Police are investigating the alleged killing of two commercial tricycle (keke) passengers by yet to be identified government security agents on convoy in the university town of Ugbomro, Uvwie Local Government Area in the early evening of Tuesday, 12th July, 2022, News Desk Paper Report.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Delta State Police Headquarters Asaba, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the incident to our correspondent in a telephone chat.
He however made it clear that the identity of the trigger happy government security agents was not known as at the time of the chat and that the police were investigating the matter.
It was, however, gathered that the said security agents allegedly shot at the keke for scratching and overtaking their convoy.
Two passengers died on the spot while the rider and another passenger sustained serious injuries from the shooting of the ‘trigger happy’ government security agents. It was further gathered that the bizarre incident sparked off a serious EndSARS and police brutality-like protest among residents of Ugbomro that lasted till late in the night.
