Sequel to the incessant assassination of youths in Sapele by unknown gunmen, The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Sapele, Harrison Nwabuisi, has called for a town hall meeting on Saturday 4 June.

In recent times, there has been frequent assassination of youths in the town by unknown gunmen, the latest case took place yesterday June 1 at a mechanic Workshop along New Ogorode road, close to Oghenetega Baptist Church, at about 5.00pm in the evening when a Mechanic popularly called “Shagari” was accosted at his workshop and shot dead at close range.

The assailant zoomed off after carrying out their hideous act.

Within a space of two weeks, over 5 persons has been gunned down in Sapele, reasons for their assassination is not known.

Within this period, two youths were gunned down at Laboard Road and Otomewo road respectively at two separate attack and a middle aged Mechanic was gunned down yesterday to mentioned but a few.

Many were guessing it could be cult war or Yahoo issue, but when a middle aged man went down yesterday, people begin to wonder if this is cult or Yahoo issue because the middle aged in town are hardly associated with either cult or Yahoo issues.

It is in line with these happenings and a call for protest by Sapele residents on this incessant killings that necessitated the call for a town hall meeting where youths in the town and other stakeholders will be given opportunity to state their grievances and proffer a way out of this security lapse in Sapele Metropolis.

Nwanbuisi said he has liaise with the Commandant of the Sapele Area Police Command and other relevant security agencies in town to be at the meeting and hoped that the outcome of the meeting will go a long way in stemming the tides and bring a lasting peace to Sapele.

The Theme of the meeting is “Community Safety Partnership (CSP)”.
