Two still birth and two neonatal death in one night have caused tension at Central Hospital, Sapele as families of the deceased besieged the hospital for explanation.

It was gathered that the four incidents happened on Thursday night and by Friday morning when the news came out, relatives of the deceased besieged the hospital, attempting to manhandle the doctor on duty until the police and men of the vigilante group had to be called in to calm the situation.

A nurse that pleaded anonymity said that two of the children were still birth while the other two died during delivery and that the doctor was not to be blamed.

The relative of one of the affected mothers said that they were angry because the death was caused by negligence on the part of the doctor on duty who they alleged was not around to give the necessary assistance.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Sapele Divisional Police Station, Harrison Nwanbuisi, confirmed the report and said that investigation was ongoing.
